Like every Marvel and Iron Man fan round the block would know, the first instalment of the film saw actor Terrence Howard play the role of War Machine aka Rhodey. Remember yet? But later, in the second instalment of the Iron Man franchise, Howard was replaced by Don Cheadle. Speaking in an interview on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Howard said, “It turns out that the person that I helped become Iron Man when it was time to re-up for the second one, took the money that was supposed to go to me and pushed me out.” Back in the days, the star accused his co-star Robert Downey Jr of keeping money that was his from him and getting him thrown out of MCU and it all happened after the mammoth box-office success of the first part.

Later during the interview, Howard also mentioned that the producers came up to him and said that they will pay him one-eighth of what they contractually had for him because they think the second one will be successful with or without him. Terrence Howard also mentioned that he called up his friend (Robert Downey Jr) that he helped get the first job, but did not get an answer from him for three months.

Meanwhile, as Terrence Howard blamed Robert Downey Jr for kicking him out of the second film, the Iron Man actor reacted to the allegations and went on to deny it all in a 2008 interview with MTV. Robert explained how he had nothing to do with Terrence’ ouster from the second film and mentioned he loves him dearly. He also added that he hadn’t spoken with Howard about it at that time, and mentioned how it’s one of those situations where he still doesn’t quite know what happened or why.
